September 2018. Nike prepared simultaneous European launch for City Ready, their women’s performance and lifestyle collection designed for urban athletes.
For Italy, Nike chose exclusivity: La Rinascente Milano Annex would introduce City Ready to the Italian market. Consequently, they needed more than product display. Rather, they required architectural retail intervention that would transform launch campaign into destination experience.
That’s where our Nike launch campaign design came in.
The City Ready challenge
Launch campaigns operate under intense constraints. Tight timelines. Simultaneous coordination across European markets. Moreover, the pressure of launching within La Rinascente, one of Italy’s most prestigious retail destinations where every brand competes for attention.
City Ready targeted urban women balancing performance demands with lifestyle versatility. The collection deserved presentation reflecting that duality: functional yet beautiful, technical yet accessible, bold yet refined.
Our challenge wasn’t creating temporary display. Instead, it was designing physical campaign architecture that would amplify Nike’s message while serving Rinascente’s luxury retail environment and, most critically, driving actual sales.
Architectural solution for retail campaign
We developed structural installation combining industrial materials with sophisticated execution.
Steel framework provided the architectural bones. Clean lines. Precise geometry. The framework created rhythm and visual organization while reinforcing Nike’s performance DNA. Steel communicates strength, durability, technical precision—values central to athletic brands.
Embossed purple polycarbonate panels introduced color, texture, and brand personality. Purple wasn’t arbitrary choice. Rather, it aligned with City Ready’s visual identity while creating feminine energy without resorting to predictable pink. The embossed relief added tactile dimension, catching light dynamically throughout the day. Consequently, the installation shifted visually as natural light changed, maintaining interest beyond static display.
Custom-designed hanging rails completed the system. These weren’t standard retail fixtures. Instead, we designed rails specifically for City Ready’s garment types and display requirements. Proper presentation matters—clothes showcased correctly sell better. Our rails ensured every piece hung beautifully while remaining accessible for customer interaction.
Integration of communication and architecture
Successful retail campaign design requires seamless integration between physical structure and visual communication.
We didn’t design installation then add graphics. Rather, we conceived architecture and communication as unified system. Graphic elements integrated naturally within the steel and polycarbonate framework. Product messaging appeared where eyes naturally traveled. Brand storytelling unfolded through the space rather than shouting from walls.
This approach created experiential environment rather than promotional corner. Customers didn’t just see City Ready advertised—they entered City Ready world. The installation invited exploration, encouraged product interaction, and facilitated purchase decisions organically.
