NEW CONCEPT FOR NIKE IN COIN STORES | Retail Design

Nike Corners in Coin: A Feminine Retail Design Concept Across Three Cities

Simplicity, strength and sweetness inside a shared department store format

The new Nike areas designed inside Coin department stores gave us a chance to explore a different side of the brand from the very beginning. Rather than the usual technical and performance-driven language, the brief called for a space with a strong feminine connotation that could still speak fluently in Nike’s own visual vocabulary.

The result balances simplicity, strength and sweetness, aimed at customers who appreciate quality and a sense of personal involvement. Pink walls, microcement finishes, wardrobe-style mirrors, Nordic-style seating and stuffed cactus decorations all become part of a distinctly Nike experience, adapted across three Coin locations in Milan, Bologna and Rome.

Coin Piazza Cantore, Milano

In the Milan store on Piazza Cantore, the Nike area unfolds across a generous footprint, with pink walls framing apparel rails, mannequins staged on platforms and large-format lifestyle photography. Wall lettering spelling out LIVE and TRAIN marks the transition between categories, while mirrored panels and a framed print reading Believe In More reinforce the more intimate, boutique-like character of the space.

Coin Bologna

The Bologna store translates the same concept into a more compact layout, with pink walls and dark flooring framing product tables dressed with folded apparel, footwear and the recurring stuffed cactus that has become a signature detail of the concept. Despite the smaller footprint, the space keeps the same balance of softness and structure found in the other locations.

Coin Roma

In Rome, the Nike area sits on a terrazzo floor that contrasts with the softer dusty pink walls, while mannequins are staged on raised platforms beside mirror panels that visually expand the space. Gold-edged tables display footwear and accessories alongside cactus decorations, echoing the language established in Milan and Bologna while responding to the specific proportions of the Rome store.

From Nike in Coin to our approach to retail design

Designing the same Nike concept for three different Coin stores required a system flexible enough to adapt to each location while keeping a single, recognizable identity. This project reflects how VANDA approaches multi-location retail design, translating one strong concept, in this case a distinctly feminine take on the Nike brand, into spaces that respond to the character and scale of each individual store across Italy.
