A historic pastry shop in Piacenza reinvents itself

Falicetto is a historic pastry shop in Piacenza run by Grazia and Aldo, who have carried the business forward through generations while keeping a close bond with the city. When their daughter Allegra decided to give the shop new energy, a project was born that the family affectionately named #falicettonext, a name that captures the desire to look ahead without losing the memory of the past. Vanda Designers accompanied this transformation by rethinking the spaces with the aim of giving the pastry shop a fresh character, able to speak to tradition while also engaging a contemporary audience.

Expanding into the shop next door

The project involved expanding the pastry shop into the neighbouring space, which made it possible to add a café area alongside the traditional pastry counter. This choice allowed the venue to be organised as a sequence of distinct yet connected environments, where guests can choose to stop for a coffee, buy pastries to take home, or simply move through the space guided by its details. Thanks to this expansion, Falicetto was able to broaden its offering, responding to different needs throughout the day.

A living room inspired by Paris

The main inspiration behind the project comes from Parisian living rooms, spaces that combine elegance and informality within a single atmosphere. For this reason the interiors of Falicetto were conceived as a sequence of small living rooms, where velvet seating and warm walls accompany visitors through a soft and welcoming path. The colours chosen, ranging from salmon pink to deep green, recall that same Parisian suggestion, giving the space a refined image without ever feeling formal or distant.

Calacatta gold marble and brass details

The pastry counter is made of calacatta gold marble, a material that becomes the visual protagonist of the space thanks to its golden veining. Alongside the marble, brass details shape the display cases, the shelving and the furniture bases, creating a continuous dialogue between stone and metal. The wallpaper also contributes to defining the character of the venue, adding a further texture that blends with the other materials without overpowering them.

Velvet seating and custom lighting

Velvet seating, in shades of blue, burgundy and green, punctuates the spaces with its chromatic and material softness. Above the counter and along the path through the venue, custom-designed lighting marks the space with a sequence of spherical fixtures that visually guide guests from one area to the next. This lighting, together with the brass details, helps to create a warm atmosphere even in the evening hours.

A project that feels complete

The combination of materials, colours and lighting results in a project that the owners themselves describe as round, meaning capable of conveying a sense of completeness and harmony in every detail. This feeling comes from the coherence with which each element, from the marble to the velvet, from the brass to the wallpaper, engages with the others, composing a space that feels natural despite the complexity of the project.

When taste meets beauty

When good is accompanied by beauty, the harmony of enjoying sweetness with all the senses is born. Falicetto brings this philosophy into every corner of the venue, turning an everyday moment such as a coffee break or the purchase of a pastry into an experience that engages sight, taste and atmosphere together.
