When the foil meets the shore

The North Sails flagship store in Saint Tropez doesn’t borrow from sailing culture—it translates it. Every architectural element in the 300-square-meter space derives from hydrofoil technology: the curved, load-bearing wings that lift a racing yacht above water. At VANDA, we call this Engineering Poetry. Here, it takes the form of a store that feels like it’s already airborne.

Ocean plastic, reborn

The project’s centrepiece is an interactive induction table crafted from plastic waste collected in the Mediterranean Sea, processed through advanced 3D printing technology. The result is a one-of-a-kind retail fixture: functional, tactile, and charged with meaning. Customers who touch it are touching transformed ocean waste—material retrieved from the sea and given new purpose in one of the world’s most prestigious sailing destinations.

VANDA+Marcel: the partnership

The project was developed and delivered in full by VANDA+Marcel—the partnership between VANDA Designers and Consorzio CAIRE—from concept design through to installation. The collaboration ensured that the technical complexity of 3D-printed sustainable components and foil-inspired spatial architecture was executed without compromise, in a location where the standard for luxury retail is unforgiving.
