A big apartment renovation project in Milan
The Darsena Living project was one of the most ambitious and stimulating challenges we’ve taken on in recent years. This apartment renovation project in Milan involved the complete transformation of a large building in Porta Ticinese, purchased by an investment fund with the goal of turning it into a stylish residential complex.
The plan: renovate more than 70 apartments, furnish each one, and make them available through a short-term rental platform. We were entrusted with the interior design and full art direction for the entire development.
Three styles, one design philosophy
We created three distinct interior styles based on the layout and size of each flat. The style featured in these images is what we called the Mad Men mood, inspired by the celebrated American TV series set in 1960s New York.
This style blends vintage elegance with a modern twist: soft lighting, dark wood finishes, velvet fabrics, and carefully selected designer pieces come together to create a warm and sophisticated atmosphere. It was the perfect choice for the larger units—from three-room to four-room apartments—where space allowed for a more layered design narrative.
The power of color and storytelling
As always, color plays a key role. In this apartment renovation project in Milan, it frames the interiors with bold, expressive tones that elevate each space and evoke a strong emotional response. It’s a design for those who believe that living spaces should tell a story—rich in personality and full of visual intensity.
