CAMPANA DI FERRO: RESTAURANT DESIGN IN VALTIDONE

When courage meets the countryside

This is what happens when a family with deep roots in winemaking decides to expand—not just their business, but their vision.

Campana di Ferro sits in the rolling hills of Val Tidone, in Ziano Piacentino. For years, the family cultivated their vineyard and ran their cantina. Then came the decision: add another floor, create an agriturismo. Moreover, create something their region had never seen before.

They came to us without a fixed idea. Just trust, ambition, and a willingness to be bold.

That openness became our canvas for restaurant design in Italy that breaks every regional expectation.

Bold choices that defined the space

Restaurant design in the countryside often follows a predictable path: rustic wood, checkered tablecloths, nostalgic tradition.

We took a different route.

Instead of playing it safe, we guided the family through design choices that felt risky at first—but ultimately created an agriturismo unlike any other in the area. Refined. Elegant. Contemporary yet rooted. A space with atmosphere you can feel the moment you walk in.

The result? An agriturismo that attracts not just locals, but design-conscious travelers seeking authentic Italian hospitality with a sophisticated edge.

Custom elements that craft the experience

Every detail in this restaurant design project was intentional.

The semicircular bar – We designed a curved counter clad in glossy green tiles (the same delightful tiles we used for our Luppoleria project). It’s playful, tactile, and immediately sets the tone: this isn’t your grandmother’s agriturismo.

Celosia screens by Patricia Urquiola for Mutina – These perforated walls create rhythm and separation without closing off space. Light filters through. Conversations flow. The effect is architectural sculpture that happens to divide zones.

Custom wooden tables – Solid, honest, beautifully proportioned. They ground the space while letting other elements shine.

Velvet seating – High bar tables with stools, benches, dining chairs—all upholstered in rich velvet. Unexpected in a countryside setting, yet perfectly at home here. Comfort meets elegance.

Lighting design – Clusters of woven pendant lights soften the space, creating warmth against the natural wood ceiling. Consequently, the atmosphere shifts from day to night without changing a single fixture.

The tasting table – A tall statement piece with a stone top and an integrated planter. Wine, food, and nature literally sharing the same table. It’s both functional and symbolic—rooted in the land that produces what you’re tasting.

Restaurant design that respects place while reimagining it

Val Tidone has a proud tradition of agriturismi. However, tradition doesn’t mean repetition.

At Campana di Ferro, we honored the landscape, the wine culture, and the family’s heritage. Indeed, the natural wood ceiling and stone fireplace connect the space to its rural context. But we layered in contemporary sophistication—materials like Mutina celosias, glossy tiles, velvet, curated lighting—that elevate the experience.

This restaurant design in Italy proves that countryside hospitality can be both authentic and avant-garde. Moreover, it demonstrates that clients willing to trust the design process can achieve something truly distinctive.

From vineyard to destination

What began as a family expansion became a design destination.

Campana di Ferro now stands apart in its region—a place where winemakers, food lovers, and design enthusiasts gather. A restaurant that feels like a discovery. An agriturismo that doesn’t apologize for being beautiful.

This project taught us something essential: the best restaurant design doesn’t follow formulas. Rather, it listens to the client, understands the context, and then pushes boundaries with intention.

From Val Tidone to the future of Italian hospitality design, Campana di Ferro shows what’s possible when courage meets craft.
